The showpiece in this group started with a shock as Fly- ing Eagles defeated World and defending champion, Ghana 2-1, the Eagles went on to lose 1-0 to Cameroun but bounced back strongly in their final match to de- feat Gambia 2-0.
Cameroon also started their campaign on good footing with a 1-0 win over Gambia and went on to defeat Nige- ria by the same score-line

before settled for a 1-1 draw with Ghana and went on the finished as group leader with seven points.
Who is next to join Cameroon to the semi-finals and automatically book a place to the World Cup in Mexico was the big battle between World champi- ons, Ghana and Nigeria but the double champions failed to progress with only two draws against Gambia and Cameroun respectively which saw the Nigeri- ans finishing second with six points.
With the four semi-finalist, Mali, Nigeria, Egypt and Cameroon already known as African representatives for the forthcoming World Cup in Mexico in a months time, the African Nations cup continue with another entertaining fix- tures in the semi’s Mali faced Nigeria while Cameroun take on Egypt.
As it all ended in the semi-finals, the stage was set for another encounter be- tween Nigeria and Cameroon after the two Nations reached the final, defeating Egypt and Mali respectively.
The two are no strangers to each other in this tournament before the finals out of the five previous meetings, Cameroon has been a better side, winning four of those and they added one more during the group stage of this year’s tournament.
