Global Rising Star !!!

(Ngonidzashe Makusha) Leslie Koroma

Zimbabwean phenom, Ngonidzashe Makusha, is becoming a household name around the world. Ngonidzashe leapt to what would have been a new National record for Zimbabwe and a meet record for the Texas Relays barring a tail wind that was above the allowable limit to make his jump legal at the early outdoor April meet. Prior to the relays Ngonidzashe had won the

Long Jump title at the NCAA National Indoor Track Meet held on March 11th and 12th at the Gilliam Indoor Stadium in College Station Texas. His International resume stretches out quite a bit with his debut being made at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games where he came in 4th against very experienced global world class athletes.

Born on March 11th 1987, he holds the Zimbabwean national records in the Long Jump at 8.30 metres outdoors and 8.19 meters indoors. Ngonidzashe is also a sprinter and he has a Bronze Medal which he won with the Zimbab- wean national relay quartet in the 4 X 100meters relay during the 2007 All African Games in Algiers, Algeria.

He has a lifetime best in the 60 me- ters in of 6.60 sec so this long Jumper could easily become a marquee sprinter if he chooses to. He also has several world class level marks in the Triple Jump of 14.90 meters and the 100 & 200 meters sprints respectively at 10.64sec and 21.57sec, for an athlete whose specialty is only the Long Jump.
