The Giant title


The Confederation of Africa Youth Championship which is sometimes referred to as the CAF U20 African Champion- ship is the main international football tournament organized by the African Football governing body CAF; for under 20 years for players of African nations.


The tournament is staged every two years with the top four teams booking a place for the World football governing body, FIFA U-20 World Cup which was previously called the FIFA World Youth Cham- pionship.


From 1979 until 1989, the African representatives were determined purely on a home & away qualifying basis without an African combined tournament, and the African champions were determined through the same qualification but since 1991 it changed to a qualifying struc- ture followed by a fi- nal tournament played by 8 teams in a chosen country.


Since 1979, the tour- nament has been dominated by West Africa giant, the flying Eagles of Nigeria win- ning the tournaments
