This month, his agent Christophe Henrotay has reaffirmed that England will be the most likely destination for the Belgian starlet, who is one of the most sought-after play- ers in world football. His physical and technical characteristics allow soccer pundits to believe the English premiership will be perfect for the young star. Dubbed as the new Drogba, and already with nine international caps to his name, he is being named as Belgium’s best player for the month.


In the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, Lukaku is top goal scorer for Anderlecht with 12 goals to his name, and fourth joint league top soccer. Lukaku started his football career with local club Rupel Boom at the age of five. After four seasons at Rupel Boom, Lukaku was discovered by scouts of Lierse SK, a Belgian Pro League team with an established youth academy.


He accounted for 121 goals in 68 appearances for Lierse from 2004 until 2006, and after Lierse SK were relegated from the Belgian Pro League, RSC Anderlecht bought no less than 13 youth players from Lierse in the 2006 midseason, as a youth player with Anderlecht in three years netting 131 goals in 93 games.


At age 16, Lukaku join the ranks with a professional contract with Anderlecht until 2012. His first league debut was against Standard Liege as a substitute but they lost 1 -0. His outstanding performance was against Zulte Waregem scoring his first goal at senior level in the 89th minute coming on as substitute for Kanu after 69 minutes.


At the international level, he was a member of the Belgium under-21 team and scored a goal on his debut against Slovenia. On 24 February 2010, he was named for the first time in the Belgium squad for the friendly against Croatia. On 17 November 2010, he scored his first two international goals in the friendly match against Russia.
