The Miami Heat on Thursday May 26th clinched the Eastern Conference Title by de- feating Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls 83 -80 to move on to the NBA Finals. The path to the Title was not simple as they had to go through the Philadelphia 76ers, The Boston Celtics and finally the much heralded Chicago Bulls.
The Heat would be facing the Dallas Mavericks in the finals a repeat of the 2006 NBA Finals that saw the Heat start off slow as they would lose the first two games but then go on to win four straight games and clinch the Franchise’s first ever title. Dwayne Wade was partnered up with a much healthier younger and determined Shaquille O’Neal in 2006. This time around it will be LeBron James and Dallas Texas native Chris Bosh.
In the Western Conference the Dallas Mavericks basically ran rough shod over the entire conference to reach the NBA Finals; they even swept the Los Angeles Lakers the previous years Champions.
The Mavericks were predicted to have been upset in the first round when they faced the Portland Trailblazers but they would prove their naysayers wrong this time around. The one issue that plagued the team or what has been perceived to be the issue with the team over a period is that they were thought to be a soft team.
Opinions have run rife around the league and with a majority of basketball fans since their meltdown in the 2006 NBA Finals against the Miami Heat; as the Heat came back to defeat them in four straight games that they are a soft team in fact most fans have always thought that Dirk Nowitzki the teams star player is soft and can be pushed around. This time around it is a different story as Dirk would not be pushed around or stopped offensively, Dirk has put a masterpiece together during this playoffs
