ASM: Tell our audience and readers What mixed martial arts is and about your organization EFC Africa
Howarth: EFC Africa is actually based on the UFC Model, you see back in 2009 we were looking around in Africa for Mixed Martial Arts Tournaments but there was nothing of the caliber of the UFC going on in Africa but there had been tour- naments going on however but nothing of the high level. So we followed the UFC Model pretty closely and in November 2009 we started ERC Africa and our EFC Africa events that we have put up have been going on really well.
ASM: Great great… ASM: How long has your business been in operation?
Howarth: we had our first tournament in Johannesburg of November of 2009 and from there we had a four months layoff to put together our TV deals to- gether to broadcast our fights because as you know no one had been broad- casting Mixed Martial Arts fights ever in Africa and from there on we have been having tournaments like every two months or so. It’s developed a strong follow- ing.
ASM: How often do you hold fights and how can potential fight fans get to know about your tournaments so they can tune in… and on which medium can they watch the fights in….
Howarth: At the moment in Africa we have been finalizing some couple of broadcast deals so our fights will be shown in almost all of Africa soon on televi- sion. Internationally the only way you can watch It is through our website where you can log on and view the fights because we do stream our events live on our website at
www.efcafrica.com , At the moment its free but we hope to have to start charging in the future. You can also watch all our past fights on our website
