This simple but magical ingredient is available to absolutely everyone—no matter what your situation, who you are, where you live, how old or young you are, or how much money you have. I can’t overstate the impor- tance of living with gratitude . . . .

It’s not until you completely open your heart and experience genuine gratitude that you will shift into a realm of consciousness that’s not easily accessible to the average, wary person. Genuine gratitude not only unlocks your spirit, but it also connects you to a universal spirit—an infinite intelligence. Gratitude shifts your internal frequency to a channel or place that receives this divine frequency. It is here where ideas and visions come to you, and insights and peace wash over you.

The best way for me to evoke this energy is to enter into a quiet space of pureness, of total reverence and complete presence. It’s a place within where I breathe and say, “Ah . . . thank you. I am so blessed. I am so grateful for all I have.” Then I remain

there until every cell of my being feels it, too. Often it comes simply from repeating the words thank you over and over.

This key to lasting empowerment is to become awestruck for what you already have, knowing that no matter what happens, you’ll be okay! Desire may be the root of all achievement, but it’s only through genuine grati- tude that achievement can be real- ized. Until this moment arrives, you’ll continually want for more, never satisfying the hunger of desire.

Become grateful for everything even if you think there isn’t a lot to love in your life. Think of the one thing that always makes you feel sincerely thankful and appreciative: a steaming cup of your favorite coffee, a warm bed on a cold night, a roof over your head (even one that leaks), or a half- full refrigerator of food (it could be empty!). The more you give thanks, the more you’ll recognize the incred- ible amount of blessings already in your life. The key is genuine grati- tude. Being nice is one thing, but pretending to love the things you don’t is inauthentic.

The final question to ask yourself is: How can I love more things in my life? Then find a way to do that very thing—love more! And each evening, before you nod off, write down as many things as you can that make you feel thankful. What a beauti- ful sleep you’ll have! What an open conduit you’ll be as you drift off to sleep. . . .
