New–style Pop–up Open in Brighton’s Lanes

Make Away is Brighton’s only popup shop completely powered by volunteers taking part in the Retail Ready People Project. Open for this month only, the pop–up shop is the result of the free 12–week skills development and volunteering programme, which gives those aged between 16–25 the chance to run a popup shop in their area. Brighton’s volunteers have opted

to give customers a hands–on retail experience, with the opportunity to screen–print t–shirts, bags and cards from a selection of designs by local artists. Nicole Brant, part of the News & Promo said: “Jack Black was our first eminent customer, visiting the shop to offer his support before we’d even opened, so who knows who is likely to drop by and fashion their own tshirts! We’re all very excited, so come down and try your hand at screenprinting and take away some customised goods to share in the fun”. Make Away will be located at 18

Brighton Square, and will be open Tuesdays to Sundays from 10am until 5pm, plus four evenings where the creative hub will come alive with workshops in button–covering, felting, jewellery– making and screen–printing.

Portview Fits Out Ben Sherman’s Newest Store

Ben Sherman’s newest store, located on Commercial Street, London, is the brand’s first store in East London. Located between Spitalfields and Brick Lane, the store needed an incredible appearance created in a very short space of time. Portview was awarded the project to fit out the store and was able to deliver the new 2,691 square feet store in six weeks. The team implemented a design that had been created by Brinkworth,

and was based on a concept that references great British spaces such as pubs and tube stations. Leckenby Associates managed the project, and the teams worked well together to bring the store to life. Simon Campbell, Managing Director of Portview comments; “Working in partnership with Leckenby Associates, Brinkworth and Ben Sherman, we have helped to deliver a shop with a traditional exterior and clean, modern interior that directly reflects and complements Ben Sherman’s new product ranges.”
