ART of the Norwegian Båtservice Group, Båtservice Mandal AS, has production
facilities at Vestnes, in Mandal. The company produces high-speed catamarans and other types of small-sized vessels. In January 2007, Båtservice Mandal
handed over a small efficient passenger-car catamaran for the Norwegian road-ferry operator Fjord1 Fylkesbaatane, called Tansøy. The vessel operates in the Florø area and its archipelago. The cat was designed by naval architect Ola
Lilloe-Olsen, and was further developed in cooperation with the owner and builder. The vessel has a length of 29.45m and a breadth of 9.00m. The service speed, with normal cargo load is
28knots, and 22knots in cargo operation, with 25tonne deck cargo. Tansøy is equipped with a pair of Caterpillar 12VC32 each producing 1045kW at 2100rev/min. A CP propeller with a diameter of 1.2m and a pair of 60kW tunnel thrusters forward were also fitted. The catamaran has lounge seats for
96 passengers and a separate room for transportation of patients has been provided.

Tansøy was built for the Norwegian road-ferry operator Fjord1 Fylkesbaatane, by Båtservice Mandal.
Hadi 1 is the first vessel in the series of nine Pilot-17 class vessels.
On the bridge deck there is a separate lounge fitted with galley equipment. The car deck aft, of 110m2
, is fitted with a
stern ramp and can carry 10 cars, or one lorry and four private cars. The vessel has also been specified to carry dangerous cargo and this cargo can be lifted onboard using the Bergen Hydraulikk Palfinger 18tonne/m deck crane.
Pilot boats for Iran Båtservice Mandal is also building a series of pilot boats for the Ports and Shipping Organization (PSO), of Iran. The first vessel in the series of nine Pilot-17 class vessels, Hadi 1, was due for delivery in March 2007. This series of 17m vessels is to be completed by September 2007, and will be working in the Persian Gulf. These modern pilot boats were also
designed by naval architect Ola Lilloe- Olsen. The 17m long, 4.75m wide, and 1.25m deep vessels will reach a maximum speed of 28knots. They are equipped with a pair of MAN D
2842 Type LE401 diesel engines, each with a power of 588kW. Both engines are coupled
to a ZF 665 LE 401 reduction gear driving a Mikado propeller. There are berths for a captain, pilot, and
two crew members, plus a separate galley. In the wheelhouse there is additional seating arranged for two, and in the lounge behind, for seven people.
Catamaran delivery In April last year, Båtservice Mandal delivered a 32m low-wash river catamaran, Twin City Liner, for operations by Central Danube, Austria, which runs vessels between Vienna and Bratislava. The cat was built in only six and a half months, six weeks ahead of schedule. The aluminium alloy vessel has a draught
of less than 80cm, a maximum wave height behind the vessel of less than 50cm, and a speed of 30knots - all requirements set by the owner. Twin City Liner was installed with two MTU
2000 V8 M72 common rail engines and two ZF 2000 gearboxes. In addition, she was fitted with two Hamilton HM461 waterjets. Seating has been provided for 102 persons, and facilities for four crew members.
