It is a highly attractive incentive for an area of the industry where a large proportion of safety critical componentry comes with a long lead-time attached to it for overhaul. Asset management as a service protection strategy works by mitigating the potential impact to your business of a rake or unit of carriages going out of service for long pe- riods of time due to lack of availability of a crucial component.
We strive to cooperate with our clients from the outset of our asset management contracts. One of the most important fac- tors for them is to have their assets ready for re-deployment at a shorter notice than they are currently able to achieve. All of our contracts have items with a ‘twenty- plus days’ overhaul expectation attached to them, but through careful planning we can develop a schedule suited to our clients needs in order to minimise this allowing for a fast deployment, giving our clients peace of mind that they can deal with the chal- lenges of running a rail service.
Continuous assessment and analysis of the asset allows Pullman Rail to produce in- depth evaluations of the performance of the stock and identify any recurrent trends, allowing for the cost of total replacement compared to unit rehabilitation to be as- sessed. Our asset management service aims to create a foundation for the development of ways to further increase efficiency by developing a manageable environment in which a company can take a more proactive response to maintenance as opposed to the more costly ‘save now but pay later’ reac- tive maintenance.
Pullman Rail’s extensive history in bogie and component overhaul has put us in an ideal position for developing our as- set management service. Primarily, this enables the intensive overhaul work to be sourced in-house, removing the need to en- gage with expensive third party suppliers.
