to the rail industry has received an MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s honours list.


Phil Thickett of Darlington, for- merly area operations manager for Northern, and now a consultant for the operator, was recognised for ‘services to the railway industry’.

Thickett was nominated by North- ern for his commitment both in- side and outside the company. He was also involved in voluntary work, mentoring school children into the world of work and sup- porting multiple charity events.


Ian Bevan, managing director of Northern Rail, commented: “We are incredibly proud of Phil and


delighted he has received this fan- tastic honour. He has helped de- velop so many of our employees, in both their daily duties and further education aspirations and is a true ambassador for Northern and the rail industry. Phil’s kind and unas- suming nature has a positive effect on everyone he comes into contact with and makes him a pleasure to work alongside.”

rainFX Ltd has become part of the Changzou Evergreen


Group (CEG) via a joint venture with RAM Active Media Plc and Changzou Evergreen Transport Technology (CETT).


TrainFX is a rail technology com- pany which provides interiors and rail equipment to rail fleets across the world.


CETT will subscribe £500,000 for shares in a new company to be es- tablished as the joint venture com- pany. It has secured TrainFX, with a 70% interest. The remaining 30% goes to RAM Active Media. Phil Campbell, TrainFX managing director, said: “This is a very excit- ing development for TrainFX and ensures the company can continue to develop leading edge rail tech- nologies, whilst benefiting from the global supply chain and cus- tomer base of the CEG Group of companies.


“This allows us to work with our clients in the knowledge we have the financial and organisational support on which to continue to grow the business.”


Stephen Ollier, European Direc- tor for CETT and CETEC Europe said: “TrainFX is another impor- tant part in expanding CETEC Europe’s capability. We already have significant experience in the manufacture of complete railway vehicle interiors. We have added seat supply through the licensing agreement with Primarius and now we have added world class railway technology with TrainFx.


“The combination of European project management and engi- neering capability couple to the low cost manufacturing capabil- ity of China, allows CETEC and TrainFX to offer highly competi- tive solutions for train operators in Europe and across the world.”

nterfleet Technology’s infra- structure services operation has continued its UK expansion with two new key appointments, Principal Consultant Phil Edwards and Head of Business Develop- ment – Infrastructure, Iain Court.


Previously head of track systems at Halcrow, rail infrastructure spe- cialist Edwards brings 36 years’ experience to the role of principal consultant. In addition to work- ing on key schemes such as the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) project, Edwards’ career has seen him lead track design and consult- ing projects in the UK, Brazil, UAE and Australia.


Business development special- ist Court is a highly-skilled sector manager and joins Interfleet from AECOM where he held the posi- tion of Director, Heavy Rail and previous roles include positions at White Young Green and Rail Per-


formance Ltd.


With experience in business ac- quisition and client relations, Court will work with Interfleet’s UK sales & business development manager Michael Grace to drive forward the continued expansion of Infrastructure Services, ena- bling asset managers to maintain and enhance their fixed asset base in areas from outline planning and concept development, through to operation and maintenance.
