VOICES FROM MOTHERINGDOTCOMMUNITY

Here’s what members of Mothering’s online discussion boards are saying about the March–April 2010 issue.

This was my fi rst issue of Mothering, and

I loved it! We are expecting our fi rst (and my partner’s second) child. I gave him the resources in Peggy O’Mara’s “My Son a Father” article.

This has been one of my favorite issues

since I subscribed last year! My whole family was sick when it arrived, and I was grateful for the “get well” recipes in Cynthia Lair’s “Your

Kitchen Medicine Cabinet.” The ginger tea was a delicious miracle.

I loved “Mayan Womb Massage,” by Cath-

erine S. Gregory. I’ve found a practitioner and plan to go for treatments. My daughter was conceived after a year-and-a-half of fertility treat- ments. I would be overjoyed to conceive without medications and intrauterine insemination!

As we venture into our ninth cycle trying for our fi rst child, the article about Mayan fertility massage speaks to me. I fi nd that the time I

take to focus on my womb to prepare a space for this baby is really special. I use castor oil

externally and massage in the bath, where I am most calm and able to fully relax my abdomen. (It wasn’t easy to do at fi rst, women having been led to believe that we should hold in our bellies.)

I really loved “Your Indoor Playground,” by

Shannon M. Medisky. I got so many great ideas from it, and I appreciated the easy instructions, too.

I loved the ideas in “Your Indoor Play-

ground,” and especially appreciated that they seem easy, (re)use a lot of materials around the house, and are inexpensive.

I absolutely loved “A Planet-Friendly

Period”! I’d been considering the DivaCup for months, and reading this article made me go out and buy one!

Went and bought me some Lunapads.

So cool!

I loved “The Purple Princess Boy Bike,”

by Elizabeth Henderson. Contentment is something even adults do not have enough of! How many adults do you know who have a working car but constantly want a better one? They can take a lesson from this little man and his family.

I just started my fi rst digital subscription,

and it is fantastic. I am very happy you recognized Elizabeth Gilmore as a Living Treasure. She certainly is one.
