I recently gave birth to my third child. Since I am seemingly always nursing her baby sister, my two-year-old walks around the house nursing her babies all the time. She and her sister nurse together, so I especially love when she tandem-nurses her babies.

Discovering Mothering gave me the strength and confidence to follow my heart and give birth to both my son and my daughter in the water at a midwife- run birthing center. I often send or quote your articles to people who question my choice to keep my children in the family bed or nurse through tod- dlerhood. On a recent visit to my in-laws, I read Mothering online whenever I was overwhelmed by their comments and questions about my choices in raising my children. Thanks to all your hard work in establishing this amazing resource for families, I never feel alone.

I can’t remember when we met, but it was after the birth of my first child, now three and a half. Every time I have had a need or a question, an issue of Mothering arrives with an answer, as well as extras

This is what a breastfed baby looks like! I have been meaning to write for years, but it was this shot of my daughter that caused me to think, “Who would appreciate this picture?” Yup, the people I’ve never met but feel so close to: the

writers and readers of Mothering. My daughter Olivia was born at home in a birthing pool, and it was the most transformative experience of my life. Her older sister was a C-section, and I would not let that happen again. I have come full circle, and I have your magazine to thank. Through your magazine, I am growing not only as a mother, but as a person. Thank you so very much for your passion, guidance, insight, honesty, and sense of humor.

My wife, Pamela, started buying your magazine when she became pregnant. She gave me the shortened version of every single article she read. It was obvious to me that the magazine was interesting, so I started reading it myself—or we ended up reading it together. Thank you for helping me father our beautiful four-year-old twins, Sofía and Nicolás, and for helping our family to grow stronger and healthier in every possible way.

Mothering is both a fierce advocate of the needs and rights of the child and a gentle supporter of the parents, and we encour- age decision making that considers the needs of all members of the family. We explore the realities of human relationships in the family setting, recognizing that raising the heirs of our civilization well is the prerequisite of a healthy society.
