CREATE A REFLECTION SPACE DURING THE HOLIDAYS

entertaining, it can feel overwhelming but it does not have to. You can step into the holiday season relaxed and in control. Maintain that energy throughout, and end the season the same way by creating - what I call - a ‘Reflection Space.’ That perfect space in your home where you can get away and recharge; a sanctuary to offset the madness of the holiday season.

Find an area in your home that you love to spend quiet time. A favorite chair, reading nook, corner of the sofa, by the fireplace, outdoors, etc. It’s that spot in your home that instantly relaxes you every time

you’re there. This will be your reflection space. Stay away from spaces with distractions and lots of noise.

Fill the space with items that ease all your senses: incense, candles, essential oils, a book you’ve been meaning to read, serene pictures, or music. For ex- ample, I created a playlist for my reflection space.

Get comfortable. Pillows are your best friend when creating a reflection space. They can make an other- wise boring chair more vibrant, or use larger pillows to create a cozy sitting area on the floor. Other es-

sentials are throw blankets and soft slippers.

Tune out and settle in. Allow your mind to tune out all the noise and thoughts that creep in during this time of year and, instead, focus on positive inten- tions. Notebooks or gratitude journals are great

tools for redirecting your focus. Have fun with it, draw funny pictures (use color pencils or crayons!) or create quotes that sum up your day in a positive way. The goal is to use the reflection space to reconnect with self and reflect on what matters.
