Losing It
6 months later, I progressed to wearing a size 12. I stuck to my routine and kept a repetitive cycle. A year later in 2007, I couldn’t even wear a size 12, because I had lost more inches and I eventu- ally started wearing a size 10! I’ve been the curvy kind since adolescence and through this journey, I realized my hips weren’t going anywhere! I didn’t lose much weight in my hip area, so I em- braced it and kept right on my course.
This transformation felt super exhilarat- ing! Armed with a Paralegal Associates Degree from Phoenix University, I then followed my dreams of being a TV host, actress and compère. I eventually got my opportunity and since 2009, I’ve hosted Rhymthz TV, The One Show, and currently, I host a primetime television show, @ Home with Joselyn Dumas. Filming in Europe and Africa, unearthing cultural gems and showcasing African stories with a varied guest list, this show broad- casts across 10 million homes in the UK, Canada and 46 countries in Africa!
And my love and flair for film and televi- sion doesn’t stop in front of the cameras. I also set up a production company, Virgo Sun, and co-produced a movie, Love Or Something Like That, followed by an edgy

drama series, V Republic. These projects were co-produced by Sparrow Produc- tions, directed by multiple award-win- ning director Shirley Frimpong-Manso and are now receiving multiple awards and nominations.
Three things that feed my mind, body and soul are: Continually strengthen- ing my relationship with God, being comitted to eating healthy and staying in shape and finally, not giving up on what I set my mind out to achieve.
One critical key I found to achieving success in weight loss is viewing it as a change in lifestyle. Yes, losing weight and staying fit is a lifestyle. I went on this journey to redeem myself and grasp my dreams. Now, I hope to inspire people with my story. So, to every person out there reading my words, struggling with excess weight and obesity, I say this. Have faith - If I (and so many others) have achieved major health and weight loss goals, so can you!
