The center’s longstanding connection with

William Jessup University also includes nota- ble Alumni Relations. Tahoe Christian Center was founded by San Jose Christian College alum Paul Cecil the same year he graduated in 1969. Three other alums including Wayne Thomas (’51), Paul Clark (’67), and Tom Salter (’69) later pastored the lakeside center throughout the years. Jim Jessup addressed both the sacrifice

and kingdom possibilities of this Partnership decision, as he described the University’s passionate commitment to utilize the result- ing funds exclusively to provide a scholarship endowment with a lasting legacy, benefiting generations of students for God’s glory. He states, “When Tahoe Christian Center made the tough decision to close its doors due to a dwindling membership and lack of pastoral leadership, they made an incredibly gener- ous decision to pour into the lives of young leaders by giving to WJU. THE GIFT GOES ON

CLOSURE OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA CHURCH BIRTHS NEW CHURCHES & SCHOLARSHIPS

LAST SEMESTER, when William Jessup University welcomed Greg Nettle to Chapel, God was setting in motion a series of events which would translate directly into church growth and individual students' accessibility to Christ-Centered Higher Education. As President of Stadia, one of the largest

church-planting organizations in the world, Nettle delivered an unforgettable message emphasizing his national ministry's commit- ment to plant churches which intentionally care for children, since 85% of those who make a decision to follow Jesus do so between the ages of four and 14. At the onset of what would become an

unforgettable chapel service, President John Jackson and Director of Church Relations Jim Jessup, proudly presented Nettle with a $40,000 check exemplifying WJU’s mission to “partner with the local church.” Nettle stated, “I’m thankful for our partnership in

church planting because throughout the United States and around the world, the fact remains the same, that the planting of new churches is the single most effective way to reach people who are far away from Jesus.” In an interesting twist of how God indeed

works all things together for good, this gift, which will pour directly into the work to plant new churches, was made possible by funds received by WJU from the closure of a former partner church. In 2014, Tahoe Christian Center in Tahoe

City, Calif. made an administrative decision to close its doors on the lakefront property. Upon its closure, the church’s elder board and remaining members determined to allocate funds from the sale of the property to WJU, based on the nature of their relationship with the University through the years and due to Jessup’s commitment to supporting healthy churches and church growth.

sity, and this new endowed scholarship will make a huge difference in the lives of individ- uals who will impact the Church–even some churches yet to be birthed.” Due to the “perfect” full-circle nature of

God working His entire community together for good—benefiting students through WJU scholarships and church growth through Stadia—this Partnership could technically impact both new churches and the ministry graduates who will lead them.
