CHRISTOLOGY: THE STUDY OF CHRIST

I recently read a letter from Ligonier Ministries that featured this culturally relevant quote from Dr. Sinclair Ferguson, “We can learn the nature of Christian living in a post-Christian world from the per- spective of how Christians lived in a pre-Christian world.” Dr. Ferguson was referencing Peter, the apostle who wrote to an

early church instructing them to honor God by living out the gospel of Jesus Christ in a society that did not understand—even hated—the Christian faith. This edition of the Jessup Magazine attempts to highlight WJU’s

“Christology.” The term comes from a combination of two Greek words meaning “Christ (Messiah)” and “Word (of God)”—which, put together mean “the study of Christ.” We unapologetically strive to live for the glory of God to be revealed

in His Son’s grace-filled gospel, ‘in all things - study Christ;’ so that Jesus is the One exalted, experienced and encountered throughout William Jessup University.

William Jessup University ABOUT THE COVER:

A MOMENT CAPTURED The January 2016 Grand Opening of the Jessup Campus Store provided a blank canvas for a signature 6ft flame, signifying the Holy Spirt at the center of all we do. As the final touches were being refined, it became obvious we were looking at the cover image for #JessupMag Winter ’16. Not only did the scene capture Jessup’s perpetual state of

innovation and creativity, but even more, it represented our pervasive commitment to the work of God’s Holy Spirit. From our deeply rooted spiritual foundations to the “wet paint” of new horizons, we are nothing if we are not “In All Things, Christ.” [Psalm 127:1]
