In Memoriam
DR. JIM DAVIES Last November, a dear and beloved staff member went on to be with our Lord. Dr. Jim Davies, who served as Jessup’s Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR), will be greatly missed by the Jessup community.
Jim had over 20 years’ experience in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, (NAIA) and served as a member of the National Eligibility Committee as well as the Constitution and Bylaws Committee for 18 years. He also served as the California Pacific Conference Eligibility Chair for the past 19 years. He sat as chair of the Council of Faculty Athletics Representatives and on the National Coordinating Committee from 2004-2008.
During Jim’s career he received numerous NAIA honors, including Cal-Pac Administrator of the Year (2003), the Wally Schwartz Award (2005), and was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 2010. He was the FAR at Simpson for 12 years and he most recently served
on the Golden State Athletic Conference, (GSAC) Eligibility Committee and as William Jessup University’s FAR for the past two years.
Jim loved his job working with
student athletes, faculty, staff, and administrators. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, passion to enhance the student athlete experience, and his desire to move Jessup, the Cal Pac, the GSAC, and the NAIA forward.
As we remember Jim, we find
peace in the fact he has been called back to his true home with God the Father, and recognize the positive impact he had upon many staff and student-athletes alike.
