traditional student population was afforded residential options, despite utilizing off-site housing options at nearby extended stay hotels. Until the opening of the new hall in January 2016, WJU student life had not been able to break this plateau and fulfill their stated two-thirds goal. The release of Jessup’s fifth residential dwelling on campus, known as Sunset Hall, features an addition of 200-plus beds, and the new construction affords student life the ability to welcome more than 600 to a prized residential status and experience—with room to spare for more residential students in the immediate future. In the midst of the growth, Jessup com-
muter students are not forgotten. From the recently updated Crawford Commons and campus spaces like the Shack and West Stu- dent Union to Jessup’s rapidly growing num- ber of clubs and Commuter Life activities, there are spaces and opportunities for every student at Jessup to engage, lead, and belong. For traditional undergraduate students and adult learners alike, WJU offers equivalent engagement opportunities tailored to their schedules and family demands. We thank God for His provisions, for the
generous gifts from more than 100 donors to the costs related to the building of this new hall (the hall was built with just under 50% cash donations and borrowing 50% from our lender). We receive the gift of this residence hall with gratitude, that we may fulfill the calling of Christian higher education to inculcate a practical wisdom in our students, a wisdom which views all of life through the lens of His Word, a wisdom which infuses lives with grace, ability, and compassion!
