Do you know what I did a few days ago? I called the other lady. She was nervous at first, but I told her, “I have nothing against you. I love you.” I heard her take in a breath of surprise. I said, “I called to tell you one thing. You stole my husband, and I forgive you. I want you to know I have a better Husband than him, and I want to share this Husband with you, too. You can spend as much time with Him as you want.” Then I shared my faith in Jesus with her.
Jesus said “As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who
sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.” (John 9:4). Contrary to what it looks like, it is “day” in Iran. The Lord has opened the spiri- tual eyes of Iranians to see the Light. Would you pray with me that the church in the West will wake up to this unique historical opportunity before it is too late? Indeed the Lord has done His part to open that nation spiritually through 35 years of Islamic rule. He is also giving visions, dreams, and miracles to many of them. I believe He says to His Church: “Look! I love these people. I am doing my part. Come and do your part as I have commanded you.” How would you respond?
WJU alumnus, Dr. Hormoz Shariat, has been referred to as the ‘Billy Graham of Iran’ for his role in bring- ing the gospel to millions of Iranian people. Hormoz leads Iran Alive Ministries which operates 24-hours a day delivering programming into Iran via satellite television. A sub- stantial number of Iranian Muslims are coming to Christ every month. Hormoz is a Church Planter and a Pastor. After planting six churches in Northern California, he has planted hundreds of underground house churches in over 90 cities in Iran through Satellite TV. He is on the “Most Wanted” list of the Islamic
Government of Iran and gets regular life threats even living in Dallas, Texas.
Unfortunately, not many Christians know about what God is doing in Iran. The majority of Iranian Mus- lims have serious doubts regarding the validity of Islam, with under- ground house churches growing fast. Visions, dreams, healings, and miracles are happening daily.

aunched from Jessup’s Rocklin campus, this issue’s featured Alumni set out from Jessup’s Rocklin campus to #Redeem- WorldCulture on very different journeys across the globe From an Archaeology grad pioneering several “firsts” as he
continues his studies, to a student leading as a Pastor in the Holy land only two years after earning his degree, to a WJU “Warrior” who unearthed, of all things, an ancient warrior figurine on a dig in Israel – Jessup Alumni can be found around the world, continuing their journey in Christ, and fulfilling their Alma Mater’s mission, serving as “#TransformationalLeaders for the Glory of God.”
JESSICA RENTZ: Tell Halif, ISRAEL
Jessup student Jessica Rentz was recently featured on the cover of the January/February 2016 issue of Biblical Archaeology Review (BAR) holding a Persian/Hellenistic-period figurine head of a male priest. The archaeology minor was one of four Jessup students who participated in an archaeological dig at Tell Halif, Israel last summer. “This trip was one way to experience history from a new angle and actually be at a site where people lived out their everyday lives thousands of years ago.” Jessica was also awarded a scholarship from the American
ALUMNI ABROAD
Schools of Oriental Research (ASOR) and asked to contribute to their blog about her experience in the northeastern Negev. Each summer volunteers from
around the world come to Israel and Jordan to participate in archaeological digs. In June 2016, Professor Cynthia Shafer-Elliott will accompany more Jessup students as they discover how Israelites lived during the 8th Century B.C. and join dig director Dr. Oded Borowski. Jessup’s work hasn’t seen the last of publication, as the Biblical Archaeology Review will also feature highlights of the 2016 dig taking place from May 29 to July 1.
