New Annual Meeting Venue Promises Ample Room, Easy Access

can handle a co-op crowd. On October 3, the center will host its first electric cooperative event when members of Kiamichi Electric Cooperative (KEC) gather there for the KEC Annual Meeting.

W WIN PRIZES!

ith over 50,000 square feet of space, the Southeast Expo Center in McAlester

The Expo building offers seating for 2,700 on the ground floor, plus plenty of space for members to register. Food and drink concession stands are located away from the registration area, which helps prevent a bottleneck at the building entrance.

If it rains on meeting day, a drive through portico will keep visitors dry as they enter the building, while KEC’s shuttle service makes it easy for members to get to and from their parked vehicles.

Remember to register for prizes that include electronics, power tools, cookware and more, plus the grand prize $600 Electric Bill Credit.

For speedier registration, please bring your official meeting notice with you.

Kiamichi Electric directors settled on the new venue after locations in Wilburton proved too small to handle the growing crowd. “As our co-op grows so does the crowd at our annual meeting,” said Jim Jackson, CEO of Kiamichi Electric. “We needed a location with more seating that was easily accessible for all ages.”

Last year, the annual meeting took place at the Wilburton High School gymnasium. While the location offered additional seating, many members found it difficult to navigate the stadium stairs.

Meeting registration opens at 8 am. The business meeting will begin at 10 am. Members are reminded to bring their annual meeting notice with them to the registration desk. The notice, mailed to members in September, includes a scannable UPC code to speed the registration process.

Before the meeting, members are encouraged to stroll the display area for information on KEC’s geothermal program and money-saving home upgrades from Energy Pioneer Solutions.

With live music from McAlester’s Sunset Band, free food and drinks, and prizes, prizes, prizes, the KEC Annual Meeting offers something fun for everyone. Bring your family, visit with neighbors and friends, and celebrate your ownership of Kiamichi Electric Cooperative. See you there.
