CEO VIEW The Cooperative

Difference BY JACK L. PERKINS

October is National Co-op Month when TCEC joins more than 900 other electric distribution cooperatives as well as more than 29,000 cooperatives of every sort throughout the country to celebrate the cooperative difference.

In September, many of you joined us for TCEC’s annual membership meeting. This in itself is a celebration of the cooperative difference as it is for our members to attend.

During national co-op month, we have two more events that set apart the cooperative difference. Join us for the Open House at the new headquarters in Hooker and for the Pumpkins at the Park event in Guymon.

Both events promise to be fun for all ages, bringing home the cooperative’s concern to community and cooperation among cooperatives, two of the cooperative principles we’ve adopted. Come celebrate National Co-op Month with TCEC. n

A Co-op Month Celebration

Thompson Park in Guymon will be covered in orange the evening of October 20 as a free pumpkin patch arrives courtesy of Panhandle Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (PTCI) and Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC) to celebrate national co-op month. Pumpkins at the Park promises fun for the whole family with free rides on the Lions Club train and a pumpkin decorating contest under the Lions Pavilion. Members will enjoy free hot dogs, water and cookies.

Pumpkin decorating begins at 5 p.m., ending at 6:30 p.m. Decorating materials will be supplied. First and second place prizes will be announced for each age category at 6:45 p.m. In honor of Main Street Month, Main Street Guymon will judge the contest.

Pumpkins at the Park Tuesday, Oct. 20 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thompson Park Guymon, Oklahoma

“We wanted to bring our members out for a fun evening to show our appreciation for them,” said Zac Perkins, TCEC’s chief operating officer. “This is one of the many ways we do that.”

PTCI and TCEC are local cooperatives serving Texas County and other areas in and around the Oklahoma Panhandle.

Pumpkins at the Park is for all ages of cooperative members to eat, ride the train, and most of all decorate pumpkins together to take home for fall festivities. n
