Cooperative is mourning the loss of beloved board member Danny Davis, who passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 9, at the age of 60. Davis came on the board in 1992 was a faithful advocate for the cooperative for over 24 years. During that time, he received multiple certifica- tions through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association by complet- ing continued education courses such as the Creden- tialed Cooperative Director Program and the Board Leadership Program. In addition, he served 13 years as sergeant-at-arms at the NRECA’s An- nual National Convention. This experience, along with being highly respected by his peers, made Davis a vital part of the cooperative’s leadership team. “Danny always brought a unique perspective to our de- bates in the boardroom,” said Board President Jimmy Taylor. “His positions were thoroughly researched and well thought out with the well- being of the membership being the driving force behind every decision.” Davis’ steadfast commitment to serving the cooperative mirrored other important areas of his life. In everything he did, Davis did it wholeheartedly and with an unmatched pas- sion. “Whether it was his faith, his family, cotton farming, OSU football, or just the topic

that came up over a cup of coffee...it had his full atten- tion,” said General Manag- er Scott Copeland. “For us, it was his passion for rural electrification, the member- owners who receive it and the dedicated workers who deliver it.” Davis’ love for God and strong desire to serve oth- ers was the foundation for a meaningful legacy that will be felt for many years to come. “The passing of Danny has left a feeling of loss not only in our hearts, but in our boardroom, our cooperative and commu- nity. better for the contributions he made and the memories he has left us,” said Taylor. “It was an honor and pleasure to work for him and with him. I learned so much from him and I am a better person because God allowed our paths to cross. I miss him deeply,” said Copeland. Davis lived in Elk City and is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Sherry; mother, Marjorie Davis; daughter, Sara Alsup and her husband, Bobby of Stillwater, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Marli Alsup, Miles Alsup, and Mosi Alsup all of Stillwater, Oklahoma; and numerous family and friends.
