At last year’s Show Morris Site Machinery was proud to have won the Innovation Trail for its Makinex Easy Lift 140 - powered hand truck as well as Best Trade Stand at the Show. Twelve months on and the company has continued to innovate and invest to meet the challenges of changing market conditions, currency fluctuations and uncertainty over Brexit, with a confident approach to both its home and overseas market strategies.
customers expect. Against a backdrop of price increases across the industry, where possible, cost savings achieved are shared with our customers. We will be unveiling a number of exciting new products at different price points at this year’s Show, all of which are ‘best in class’ for their category.
“Understanding the changing dynamics and pressures of the markets and customers we serve is an important component in our strategy to ensure we remain at the forefront, delivering customers the right products at the right price.”
Continued investment This past year has seen intensive work on
Chris Morris – CEO, Morris Site Machinery
As part of a fifth-generation family business, CEO Chris Morris well understands the value of being able to ride out uncertain economic times through taking the long-term view:
“Despite the challenging economic conditions over the past year, we have continued to innovate and made some significant introductions to our range of site machinery brands and products. We recognise there’s a lot of pressure on our customers with pricing and costs and have embarked on a robust efficiency drive to ensure we improve productivity whilst delivering the same standard and quality
the company’s own portfolio with its own talented in-house design team developing new products for its established brand ranges. “In 2017 we are dramatically increasing the capability of our in-house engineering team, not only through how we work and further investment in equipment, but also by recruiting additional resource. Bringing innovative products to the market place is our lifeblood.” Chris explains.
Show stand highlights At the Show on Stand B50, Morris Site
Machinery will be unveiling its new generation Ultimate TL90 lighting tower along with some exciting new brands it will be distributing here in the UK. At the Show, its new generator line up will include three tiers of power generation including the introduction of the Inmesol rental and industrial ranges to complement its acclaimed Denyo range. A brand new feature on the stand will be ‘The Toolshed’ where it will also be showcasing Jefferson Tools & Equipment which the company will be distributing to the UK mainland Hire Industry from 2017.
Increasing global footprint In terms of overseas trading, the
weakened value of the pound has proved beneficial for the business which this year has seen its biggest ever single order, 300 lighting towers to Australia, plus new orders from target territories as diverse as Dubai to Russia totalling in excess of £4.5million worth of sales. Chris adds: “We have a clearly defined overseas sales and marketing strategy with the recent results speaking for themselves. The fact that our products are robust and reliable makes them ideal for challenging overseas temperatures and terrains.”
2017 and beyond Chris remains optimistic that 2017 will
bring further opportunities for growth in the UK as investment to meet the chronic housing shortage and planned major infrastructure projects get underway, fuelling demand for site equipment. Following recent consolidation in the hire sector he also believes it will become an actively stronger market to serve.
“On EU membership and Europe, when it comes to uncertainties over Brexit, we will all have to see how the trade deal ultimately shapes up. We believe however that we are structured well to weather any choppy waters ahead. One thing is for sure, whatever deal is reached with the EU, it won’t bring to an end the significant trade we have done with Europe for over 250 years since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution! Europe has always been and will remain an important trade partner,” Chris added.
