ISD is open for business – in Australia

SD Solutions is currently negotiating five major cold store projects in Australia and believes the potential for super-efficient cold storage facilities using the latest insulated PIR panels, especially single envelope high bay solutions, is significant, with an estimated market valued at AUD$100m/ year. The company is forecasting an initial 10% to 12% market share in the first 18 months. Chief executive Andy Moon said: “As the largest specialist cold store subcontractor in the UK, we already have wide experience of delivering substantial projects in Europe and Scandinavia. Post Brexit, the market opportunity in Australia, where we are even now targeting a number of opportunities, is too important to ignore.” He continued: “There are few specialist subcontractors with our 25-year level of expertise, technical knowledge of PIR construction and in depth manufacturer relationships. Combine this


with growing demand for highly efficient cold storage solutions and this is an obvious next step for ISD Solutions.”


The fast expanding frozen and chilled food industry in Australia, combined with growing demand for more thermally efficient chilled and frozen storage facilities globally, makes single envelope construction and clad rack freezers using PIR insulated panels increasingly attractive. High bay solutions are also attractive as land prices increase.


The company says it will initially target the design and construction of external single envelope storage and distribution facilities, but also sees opportunities similar to the UK market for internal chill-store and cold-store facilities within the grocery and food manufacturing sectors, as well as clean rooms, pharmaceutical manufacturing and storage, and other temperature critical sectors.

urnley-based CoolKit supported Lancashire Day last week by providing refrigerated transport for the county’s top award- winning chefs and food producers, as they headed to London to prepare a five-course feast for top food writers, critics and industry insiders, organised by Marketing Lancashire. The event, which took place at the exclusive


IceTank venue in Covent Garden on 17 November, aimed to showcase Lancashire’s strengths as a culinary destination. It was part of Marketing Lancashire’s #LancashireDay and celebrations will culminate on the day itself, 27 November. CoolKit provided refrigerated transport for the event to ensure all food ingredients were of the same quality when they arrived in London as when they left Lancashire.


The five award-winning chefs cooking were Lisa Allen, head chef of Michelin starred Northcote, Maurizio Bocchi from La Locanda, Chris Bury from the Cartford Inn, Stosie Madi from The Parker’s Arms and Steven Smith from the Freemason’s Arms at Wiswell.


Midea completes Clivet acquisition M


idea Group Co completed its acquisition of an 80% stake in Clivet S.p.A., Clivet España S.A. and related real estate assets


yesterday (31st October).


The acquisition was formally concluded at Clivet’s headquarters in Feltre (Belluno), Italy. Midea chairman and president Paul Fang said: “Today marks a major step forward towards an industrial partnership between Midea and Clivet. We look forward to leveraging on our complementary resources and capabilities to fully realise the potential of the partnership.


“We believe our continuous investment in the brand, technology, marketing and people and unwavering commitment to product quality will enable us to serve our customers better and create more value for the society.”


Eric Tian, president of Midea Commercial Air Conditioning Division, added: “Through this win-win strategic alliance, Midea will further reinforce its presence on the European markets and explore growth opportunities together with Clivet.
