The advantages of personal training
As well as being a potentially lucrative career and a highly enjoyable and rewarding way of earning a living for the trainer, personal training also provides many benefits for clients.
For example:
What makes an excellent personal trainer?
The question has been posed as we are seeking excellence rather than simply competence.
Some of the basic teaching skills you should possess include being able to:
demonstrate and explain exercises safely and effectively
observe performance giving clear verbal instructions and teaching points to improve technique
monitor response to exercise through questioning and observation
make corrections to unsafe or ineffective technique ask questions and gather feedback encourage and motivate clients offer alternative exercises to progress or regress activity demonstrate good listening skills provide a client-centred approach
You should have developed and honed these skills on your Level 2 qualification. Now at Level 3, a PT is expected to demonstrate a significantly higher level of teaching and client care.
