The planning process for a fartlek workout is less structured than for other training systems because so much depends on the feedback you receive from your client throughout the duration of the training session.


However, certain parameters can be estimated in advance, including the overall duration of the session and the maximum and minimum intensities your client will use and which energy systems will be prioritised.
