Bristol Arena WORLD-CL ASS EN TER TAINMEN T

A new 12,000 capacity venue, the Bristol Arena, is planned for Bristol. Located a stone’s throw from Temple Meads station, the arena will host over 100 events a year, attracting visitors from across the South West to the best touring arena shows.

Te design for the building has flexibility

at its core. Te arena will have spaces perfect for public exhibitions, fashion shows, conferences and meetings, as well as flexible modes for 4,500 theatre-goers, comedy shows and 12,000 live-music fans. Sporting events have been carefully considered and it will also host large-scale events such as ice hockey, tennis, basketball, boxing, handball and gymnastics. Te arena is being delivered by a

design team led by global entertainment and sports design firm Populous, locally-based architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, international practice BuroHappold Engineering, sound specialists Vanguardia Consultants, arts consultant Field Art Projects, and renowned artist Jonas Dahlberg. Te Bristol Arena will be managed

and programmed by the world’s largest arena operator SMG, in partnership with the world’s largest international live entertainment company, Live Nation. Bouygues UK have recently been named as the preferred building contractor for the project. Between them, the team have an

impressive portfolio of projects: the London Olympic Stadium, O2 Arenas in London, Berlin and Dublin, the First Direct Arena in Leeds and the Singapore Sports

Hub, to name but a few. Te arena will be the most sustainable in the UK, with solar panels on its roof, connection to the council’s heat network, rainwater harvesting systems and efficient insulation, ventilation and lighting systems. Part of one of the largest urban

regeneration projects in the UK, the Bristol Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone, the arena will be a catalyst for further development in the area, creating jobs and stimulating growth. A host of infrastructure projects that will boost access and connectivity to the area will be in place before the arena opens. Tese include two new bridges, a pedestrian access route to the site from Bath Road, a floating pontoon walkway from Temple Meads and improved wayfinding facilities
