Plans submitted to Stroud
District Council for Eco Park include a stadium for Forest
Green Rovers, training fields, 4G pitches, multi- disciplinary
sporting facilities, and a sports science hub. Te initial plan also includes public access to a
wide variety of health and leisure activities, allowing people in the Stroud District and
beyond to use the facilities and equipment. Eco Park will have a green technology business park with sustainably built commercial offices and light industrial units. Te final
element of the proposal is a nature reserve located on the west side of the M5. Te overall concept includes the
potential development of a public transport hub, including a Stroud Park and Ride, and will also see Ecotricity help with the
restoration of the Stroudwater Canal under the M5. In
addition, if Forest Green Rovers receive planning permission to relocate to a new stadium at Eco Park, it has been
proposed that land at the existing
stadium at New Lawn in Nailsworth would be used for high
quality sustainable homes which would include affordable housing.
