FOREWORD TRACEY SMITH 12 CHIEF EXECUTIVE, BRITISH EXPERTISE

FUNDING THE INFRASTRUCTURE OF TOMORROW

‘SEEKING NEW AND INNOVATIVE WAYS TO SUPPORT AND INSPIRE’

I

t is an exciting time here at British Expertise, and not just because of the fantastic new publication you are holding in your hands (or looking at on your tablet screen). For nearly

50 years British Expertise has been supporting its members to grow and develop their businesses internationally. Our member companies employ more than half a million people across the globe. Tey are leaders in the development of remarkable infrastructure and construction solutions; they support the development of burgeoning economies and provide world-class design and project management. British Expertise members are at the cutting edge of UK skills exports. British Expertise is always seeking new and

innovative ways to support and inspire its members, be that through our ever-expanding programme of trade missions and events or the vibrant British Expertise International Awards. We want British Expertise, as an organisation, to be as engaging and forward looking as our member companies. As such, this spring, we are beginning an exciting

new phase in British Expertise’s long history. During 2015 British Expertise will begin to integrate activities with the international division of Te D Group, becoming British Expertise International. Te D Group is a leading business development organisation with a membership including many of the leading companies and institutions in the UK which together employ over three million people. Headquartered in London, it has been operating for 21 years and now has a presence in 29 countries. Tis decision was made with

the unanimous support of our Board and membership. British Expertise International will continue to offer our existing range of services but the merger presents the organisation with unique opportunities to offer a wider range of events, enhanced research facilities and an even larger

international footprint. Our existing staff will also be joined by some new faces, bringing exceptional experience and fresh approaches to our team. As we approach our half century, we remain

an organisation respected by governments and businesses alike, both at home and abroad. We want to protect that legacy and build on it for an exciting future. Our new relationship with Te D Group will allow us to thrive and grow over the next fifty years of its history. Te last five to ten years has been a complex

period for the trade association space, with the radical changes in how governments have sought to work with trade bodies and consolidation across many sectors. Together with Te D Group, we will grow into a membership organisation ready to support UK companies to success into the rest of the 21st century. I’d like to thank all our members and friends who

have chosen to get involved with this publication, and for being our experts! Expert View will serve as a stimulating new forum to share experience and debate new issues in fields of consultancy and development. Furthermore, it is a chance for British Expertise to showcase the unique capabilities and experience of our members. Each issue will be themed, so there should always be an opportunity to get involved, contribute and discuss your own areas of specialism. Don’t miss out!
