Surgical options include adjustable gastric banding, vertical
sleeve gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, biliopancreatic diversion with duo- denal switch, and the single anastomosis duodeno-ileal switch endorsed in 2020 by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).32
Currently,
the sleeve gastrectomy and the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass are the two most common procedures performed (refer to Figure 14.1 below and Figure 14.2 on page 262).33 Refer to Table 14.3 on page 262 for a summary of current surgical options.33-35
