MARCH 26 THE BUNNY ROCK CHICAGO 5K AND EGG HUNT Parents can put on their (free!) bunny ears, bunny shirt and neon sunglasses, and run for a good cause, while the little ones chase each other through Montrose Harbor looking for more than 3,000 candy-filled eggs at this Easter-themed day of fun. 601 W Montrose Ave (

MAY 7 THE 18TH ANNUAL KIDS AND KITES FESTIVAL Celebrate the arrival of spring at this free, outdoor family-friendly festival at Cricket Hill in Lincoln Park, where kids can fly a kite or watch professional demonstrations. Free paper kites are provided, but families can purchase more intricate flying creations, too. Lake Shore Dr between Montrose and Wilson Aves (
cityofchicago.org). May 7 10am-4pm; free.
MARCH 19, 20 MAPLE SYRUP FESTIVAL Learn how maple syrup is made, and taste a fresh batch right off the fire. Festival workers show how tree sap is harvested, assist in making crafts and tell stories.
