A WRY SENSE OF HUMOR SOME OFFICE THEATER
When the folks behind the popular game Cards Against Humanity aren’t coming up with crass new cards, they sometimes host performances in their office’s theater. In March, local geek-friendly improv troupe the Nerdologues holds a live BYOB taping of its podcast, Your Stories, featuring storytelling, sketches and songs from comedians and an interview with the founders of International Tom Hanks Day (which occurs on April 2, so mark your calendar). 1917 N Elston Ave (

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE NEW WORLD ORDER VS. HEROIC MUTANTS X-Men: Apocalypse
BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE VIGILANTE VS. GOD-LIKE ALIEN
The ultimate superhero grudge match, ripped from the pages of Frank Miller’s seminal graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns, finally hits the big screen. After witnessing the destruction waged by Superman (Henry Cavill) in Man of Steel, a brooding Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) puts on his Batman cowl and sets his sights on the all-powerful alien. The showdown will undoubtedly be epic, but it may be short-lived, as the pair teams up with Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) to take down a powerful creature unleashed by the evil Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). Opens March 25
Captain America: Civil War CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR
PRO-GOVERNMENT DO-GOODERS VS. ANTI-REGULATION CHAMPIONS
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice 30
TIMEOUT.COM/CHICAGO March–May 2016
Politics rears its head in the Marvel Universe, as the Avengers come to grips with the wanton destruction they’ve unleashed upon humanity. On one side, there’s Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), the billionaire altruist best known as Iron Man, who recognizes the logic in regulating all superhero activity. Then there’s Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), a man whose identity is defined by his Captain America persona and his sense of duty—rules and regulations be damned. Hero fights hero, and newcomers Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) are primed to join the fray. Opens May 6
Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and his team of young mutants enter a battle with their most formidable opponent to date: an ancient, immortal mutant known as Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac). Reawakened and dissatisfied with the modern world, the powerful antagonist recruits four horsemen—including Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Storm (Alexandra Shipp)—to help him destroy the human race and assert mutant superiority. Pitting former allies against one another, this super-powered battle royale seems designed to offer up the heightened drama and gratuitous CG devastation that fanboys and -girls go crazy for. Opens May 27
