Movies & Music Festival The eighth annual CIMMfest brings more than


100 screenings and concerts celebrating movies about music and music about movies to the city. Highlights include a screening of Smart Studios Story, a documentary about the Wisconsin recording facility where producer Butch Vig made albums by the likes of Nirvana, the Smashing Pumpkins and his own band, Garbage. 15 Read a little zine


Before blogs there were zines, and despite the fact that personal blogs have gone the way of Geocities (i.e. defunct), zines are here to stay. Small and independent publishers from across the Midwest descend on Chicago for Chicago Zine Fest to trade their often- handmade works, attend DIY workshops and share what they’ve been working on for the past year.
