Who do you want to be? It’s a difficult question, but we’ve tried to make the decision as simple as possible. Forget about attributes and skill trees—just pick the convention at which you’d like to walk the floor this spring. Here’s a hint: Don’t limit yourself to just one.

THE POP CULTURE DEFENDER C2E2

Comic books and geeky TV shows have finally become the driving force behind mainstream pop culture, and you’re relishing every moment. One of the city’s largest conventions, the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, celebrated with creative cosplay and copious branded merchandise consumption, might as well be an unofficial holiday. You’ll willingly cart your purchases across the gigantic convention floor, wait for an autograph from actor John Cusack or Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, and go to panels to learn about the latest offerings from publishers such as Marvel and DC. McCormick Place, 2301 S Lake Shore Dr (312-791-7000, c2e2.com). March 18–20; $30–$75.

26 TIMEOUT.COM/CHICAGO March–May 2016 THE VIGILANTE

HEROES & VILLAINS FAN FEST Simply owning a cape and cowl isn’t enough—you want everyone to know you’re superhuman. The inaugural Heroes & Villains Fan Fest allows you to show off your powers—for good or evil—with a range of indoor activities, including a bungee jump, a zip line, an inflatable obstacle course and a video-game lounge outfitted with Xbox Ones. Of course, you can also stand in line to secure autographs from stars of TV shows such as Arrow, The Flash and Gotham. Aspiring villains beware: Plenty of heroes are in attendance to foil your latest plot. Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N River Rd, Rosemont, IL (847-692-2220, heroesfanfest.com). March 12, 13; $35–$70, VIP $200–$900.
