BIFM BEGIN SEARCH FOR NEW CHIEF

EXECUTIVE The British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) has begun the search for a new Chief Executive to replace current CEO, James Sutton, who will leave the organisation next year to focus on his new family.

Sutton was brought in to lead the strategic development process over two years ago and in July this year became CEO. He came with an outstanding track record of working with professional bodies, having previously been at CIM (The Chartered Institute of Marketing) for ten years, most recently as its Acting Chief Executive and Director of Strategic Development.

However, with the arrival of a new baby imminent and the challenges remaining of the distance between James’ home, BIFM’s headquarters and the many and varied commitments resulting in significant time away from his family, James is now ready to pass on the mantle to the next individual who will continue to build on and deliver the strategic vision for the Institute.

Speaking about the changes, BIFM Chairman Julie Kortens said: “So much of the work James has done for BIFM

attend, content-rich seminars will be specifically designed to appeal to the facilities managers, business owners and operators in attendance.

has been central to our progression as an Institute. Not only has he been instrumental in the development and delivery of BIFM’s long-term strategy, but his extensive knowledge and experience of professional bodies has provided us with a strong foundation with which the incoming CEO can continue to deliver BIFM’s strategic aims. Speaking for the Board, we would like to thank James for all of his contributions and wish him and his young family all the best for the future.”

James Sutton added: “I feel hugely privileged to have served as both Chief Operating Officer of BIFM and more recently, Chief Executive. The role of BIFM as a professional body is such a critical one to business and society, and I feel truly proud to have been part of the collective effort of all BIFM’s employees, the Board of Directors, Executive team and volunteer community to achieve our strategic goals. While I have decided to focus on spending more time with my family, I am confident that BIFM will continue to go from strength to strength, and I will leave with great memories of my time here.”

Details of the role and how to apply can be found on the BIFM website: www.bifm.org.uk/recruitment. The closing date for applications is 14th December 2015.

Daniel Gray, Facilities Management Event Manager, added: “We are thrilled to announce Magenta’s involvement with the show; they have particularly deep roots within the facilities sector, having worked with a number of well-known organisations. This collaboration enables us to present visitors with relevant, exciting content that has been created by knowledgeable professionals, further demonstrating our commitment to provide the best show experience.”

As well as an exciting new conference and seminar programme, Facilities Management 2016 will also include big name keynote speakers, educational workshops and fantastic networking opportunities.

Running alongside the seminar programme will be a full exhibition, featuring the latest facilities management technologies and services from leading industry suppliers. Major names including Angel Springs, Clearwater, Clockwork IT, Higham Roofing, Hygiene Solutions, Lutterworth Ecolighting, Fieldmotion, SYR Continental, Managed Water Solutions, Tradepoint, Nationwide Hygiene Supplies and Safer Access Solutions have already signed up for the show.

Facilities Management 2016, the UK’s only event that focuses specifically on the large scale and multi site facilities industry, takes place at the NEC, Birmingham on 22-24 March 2016 and is co-located with Maintec, The Health and Safety Event.
