TECHNOLOGY

To further support our technological vision we’ve developed three bespoke android-based technology apps as part of the WorkPlace+ business suite, with the objectives of delivering real time and auditable management information for our clients and managers.

First, there is the mobile application for planned and periodic work (MAPP). It means our national mobile workforce can accurately view their reactive schedules and allocated duties, capture exacting arrival and departure times to and from sites, and upload photographic evidence of any unexpected circumstances or occurrences.

The app can also log customer satisfaction of work via electronic signature, and produce site specific reports, so removing paper-based processes.

This unique app can also provide teams with valuable QHSE data and even assist in directing the most economic and efficient route to complete their tasks for the day or week.

My vision for our entire workforce is to eliminate the need to do anything on paper – our world will be supported by leading edge software and hardware. Importantly, we’re already making great strides towards this goal.

The central point to all our operations across all sectors is WorkPlace+. This is the online operational platform for team members, managers and clients to access information and communicate in real time.

The system is proven in the security business in driving accessibility and connectivity for front line people and streamlining processes for managers, enabling them to spend more time with their people and clients.

For the first time our cleaning team members will be able to access details on their pay, shifts and holidays, giving them peace of mind on the accuracy. And managers will have full visibility of the attendance profile across all clients.

The second app we’ve developed is the Qaudit application, which is proven in our transport cleaning division and is now being rolled out across all sectors. The app enables online auditing of contracts that are bespoke to customer requirements, real-time scoring calculation, the ability to add photographs and date and signature capture authorisation.

All the information held in the app is exported via PDF. The Qaudit app also provides an interactive dashboard that displays any data captured by the customer to review. This can be viewed nationally, regionally or by site level.

The third application is for use on wearable technology which has the ability to track and monitor site-based teams both above and below ground via a simple Bluetooth beacon.

This technology creates the ability to schedule and re-schedule teams to meet real time requirements, locate teams or individuals, measure actual delivery of tasks and determine lean and efficient delivery routes.

We have developed these unique apps to demonstrate our forward thinking strategy for the delivery of cleaning and wider FM services for the future.

The apps mean greater efficiency in service delivery, greater visibility and management information, and a more connected workforce – something which is as important as the information we provide to clients.

Technology in our cleaning business is going to be a

game changer. The innovations we’ve already started to implement are

really going to make people sit up and think differently.

In support of the software innovations, all managers and relevant team members have been issued with a Samsung smart phone, tablet or smart watch. We’re partnering with Samsung for our devices as after reviewing what was on the market I was impressed by Samsung’s product line of hardwearing units specifically designed for use in the field, and their partnership and support for our future vision.

We have recently signed up to the Cleaning Taskforce commitment and by modernising the way cleaning services are delivered with technology, this will not only benefit our clients but will enhance the roles of our team members, showing them that we want to invest in them.

This is a really exciting time, and this type of development is well overdue in our sector. For anyone who doubts whether the cleaning industry warrants technological investment – watch this space.
