COMMERCIAL LAUNDRY

DISPENSING EFFICIENCIES

Alistair Blair-Davies, Marketing Director at Hydro Systems Europe, discusses the importance of efficiency in dispensing laundry environments.

Making cost efficiency gains without compromising on performance is a difficult endeavour for any organisation. But on occasion, these gains can be found where you least suspect.

Many commercial businesses and public bodies run significant on- premise laundry operations, and it is here where the latest innovations in chemical dispensing technology can be a real driver in accessing untapped financial savings. Not only that, the technologies can even boost performance standards in these environments to new heights.

A COMMON PROBLEM Hotels, educational or athletic facilities, hospitals and healthcare establishments, or industrial scenarios – each of these applications may be required to perform mass laundry washes frequently and thoroughly. If the standards drop, so does a facility’s reputation.

Unfortunately, chemical dispensing systems in on-premise laundry applications face a common problem: the wearing of parts that causes the desired dispensing levels to become inaccurate. When this happens, dilution levels become too low and washes become unsatisfactory. The by-product of this is that end users will rewash the materials, resulting in the increased costs incurred through repeating the machine’s operation, as well as the increase in labour time.

Fine margins in dispensing performance might seem fairly innocuous on the face of it, but the consistent failure of a system in maintaining optimal dispensing rates can cost a company a small fortune over a prolonged period of time.

At Hydro Systems, we have engineered the solution. As a company, we

believe that our innovations in venturi technology can guarantee consistent flow rates from low pressures. Our latest product that demonstrates this in laundry applications is called the EvoClean, which is ideally suited to any laundry environment, large or small.

REALISING THE

LONG TERM COSTS Quite simply, the efficiency of laundry equipment is something that can easily slip under an organisation’s radar. Even if the signs of inefficiencies in existing dispensing systems are detected, some may be under the impression that performing some routine maintenance is the simplest, cheapest solution. They would be wrong.

For example, if a peristaltic tube wears out, it may only cost £50 per callout, but multiply that by hundreds of installed units and you are burning a deep hole into resources that could be better allocated elsewhere. This lifetime cost must be accounted for, but with systems like EvoClean, the one-off cost of installation will yield positive results on the bottom line. The system has been designed to not require any routine maintenance or tube replacement, yet still guarantees accuracy and performance for prolonged periods of time.

MAKING INSTALLATION EASY The one-off purchasing cost of a new, low (or indeed, no) maintenance chemical dispensing system becomes yet more justifiable if the cost of installation is minimal. Whether a dispenser needs to be dismantled to be installed, or whether installation supplies need to be purchased in addition to a dispenser – both of these factors can have significant financial implications.

This is when an installer-conscious manufacturer can help

reduce the inconvenience of tricky installation. If the laundry dispenser comes pre-wired from the factory, there is no need to dismantle the product and time, money and effort are spared accordingly.

THE INNOVATIVE

DISPENSING SOLUTION Customer satisfaction goes hand in hand with the highest standards of cleanliness. Fortunately, solutions such as EvoClean guarantee these standards, and can save unnecessary expenditure in the process. It’s about looking at the big picture – the purchasing price of quality new equipment is quickly offset by the lifetime costs of the product, and if the product is of the highest quality, the quality of the wash results will be that much more consistent.

Smart facilities management means detecting potential efficiency gains you might not know were there. Reconsidering and reinvesting in your laundry dispensing solutions might be the most productive choice you make today.
