Why did you choose to work in this industry initially?
It was really a function of living in Bermuda—being in insurance was a natural choice.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
It was the decision to move from accounting to investments. Obtaining my CFA, and changing the direction of my career has allowed me to not only further my career, but to make it much more interesting.
What has been the biggest challenge you have encountered?
The insurance and the investment industries are both male-dominated, which can be challenging. I am often the only woman at round tables or conferences, which was intimidating at a younger age.
If you had chosen a different profession/career path, what would it have been?
Most likely a teacher. I would have loved to have been around kids and had the summers off! ■
