2015 36 Bermuda:Re/insurance+ILS
difficult to maintain the intensity required, I love the high of being part of a smart team that is really clicking and pushing together to get a job done.
What has been the biggest challenge you have encountered?
The challenge continues to be holding my own among the incredibly smart and talented business people surrounding me every day. It takes confidence but, to be effective, I have to stick my neck out.
If you had chosen a different profession/career path, what would it have been?
I would have worked with dogs. Possibly dispute resolution. ■ Jennifer Mangino
Job: General counsel reinsurance and MI Company: Arch Capital Group Career path
2014—General counsel reinsurance and MI, Arch Capital Group
2002—General counsel reinsurance, Arch Capital Services
Jennifer Mangino is general counsel for Arch Worldwide Reinsurance and Mortgage Groups. She joined Arch in 2002 from St Paul Re, where she started as an assistant general counsel before assuming the role of general counsel and corporate secretary. Prior to that time, Mangino was a New York-based litigation associate first with the law firm Lord Day & Lord, Barrett Smith and then with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. She received her JD from Fordham University School of Law and her BA from Villanova University.

I eventually moved to an in-house position at St Paul Re and then joined Arch (my current employer) just after its inception in 2002.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Even though I do my best to help my company avoid disputes, I have to admit that arbitration is still one of my favourite parts of the job. I find the intensity and the team dynamics invigorating and fun. Winning a major arbitration fairly early on in my career was a big highlight. Looking back, the highlights of my career have been supporting the underwriting teams on major deals. While it’s often
