LIVE24SEVEN // Property & Interiors S P I T F I R E B E S POK E HOME S - HIGHWOR TH Capturing the charm of the

Capturing the charm of the Cotswolds at Highworth. Sometimes referred to as the ‘Jewel of the Cotswolds’, the historic village of Broadway embodies the very best of life in the UK’s largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The picturesque village proudly showcases the unique honey- coloured stone, dry stone walls and gentle, rolling countryside that make the Cotswolds such a sought-after destination.

Part of Spitfire Bespoke Homes’ Cotswolds Collection, Highworth is a collection of 74 luxurious new homes in the very heart of Broadway, that have been thoughtfully designed and crafted with traditional materials to reflect the local character and ambience.

“The towns and villages of the Cotswolds have created an architectural style that is unique, known as the ‘Cotswold Vernacular’”, says Highworth architect Mike Lapworth, of award-winning Birmingham-based Lapworth Architects. “The main features are simple building forms, with gables, square chimney stacks, dormers and small windows, and the settlement layouts are generally not regular in form but tend to be more organic.”

The homes at Highworth offer a modern interpretation of the Cotswold Vernacular style, marrying an exceptional internal specification with a deep understanding of their surroundings.

Much of the Cotswolds’ appeal lies in its ability to offer an ideal balance between semi-rural and metropolitan lifestyles. No exception, Broadway is home to one of the longest streets in England, enriched with superb examples of Tudor, Stuart and Georgian architecture. Lined with gentle horse chestnut trees, it boasts an impressive array of boutiques, independent shops, traditional country pubs, tea houses and restaurants.

Ranging from two to five bedrooms, the houses at Highworth are perfectly suited to buyers for whom this balance is key. Behind their traditionally- styled exteriors, all of the homes benefit from Spitfire’s signature internal specification, with an outstanding finish that includes individual hand-crafted kitchens, Siemens integrated appliances and Villeroy & Boch sanitary ware.

The spaces between the houses are as important as the homes themselves. Naturally divided into two parts by the retained field hedge, the houses are laid out with a mixture of terraces and detached properties, and are integrated with feature squares and open spaces.

This, when combined with Cotswold stone detailing, slate roofs and traditional style windows which echo the historic architectural style of Broadway, gives Highworth its own unique sense of place while at the same time firmly rooting it in the Cotswolds.
