LIVE24SEVEN // Property & Interiors Probuild360 YOU CAN HAVE THAT WOW FACTOR FIREPLACE
Michael Parinchy of Probuild360 is often called upon as an interiors expert by Houzz, here he explains how you can achieve a fireplace even without a flue… “A well designed fireplace integrated into a separating wall can give a living space a real wow factor whilst providing subtly separate areas for the natural flow of daily life. Aesthetically, the possibilities are endless and the prospect of creating a cosy snug area separate from the main living room is a dream feature for any home owner. With the correct advice from the relevant professionals this is a truly creative way to layout an open plan room with the added practicality of providing an additional source of heat.
When creating a fireplace feature wall the first thing to consider is the fuel source. If possible a gas pipe can be run in the floor providing the facility for a traditional gas fire, so long as the situation allows for the installation of a flue for the extraction of fumes. This can be concealed within the wall itself in the construction process providing the feature wall connects to an external wall. Alternatively, bioethanol fuelled fires do away with the requirement of utility service pipes or flues thus allowing much more freedom in design in terms of location within the space and the construction of the surround. A further advantage of bioethanol fuelled fires is the opportunity for retro fit making them a great option for extensions and renovations.
