Dream Buildings Reflect Our Outer Persona And Inner Thoughts by Anastasia Collingridge

‘Dreaming of a building we don’t recognise helps understand soul purpose’

Visiting a building in our dreams that we don’t recognise, will help us to understand our soul’s purpose in this lifetime and the natural abilities and gifts that are still important from a past life, that we are not yet acknowledging and working with. The exterior of the building shows how we present ourselves to others in our waking lives, while the interior holds deeper meaning and many secrets from the past, which are currently hidden from public view. The setting and whether situ- ated on the coast or inland, is also important when analysing our dreams.

TYPES OF BUILDINGS: Castles relate to our ambitions in life. Factories and warehouses link to activity and productivity. Are we working for someone (not making decisions) or in charge. A hospital often appears when we need a rest, while a prison signifies that there is an element of our personality, we are unable to release. Religious buildings ask whether we have faith in ourselves and indicate a quiet time of reflection. We pay for a service in a hotel, indicating a need to be paid or to engage a specialist contractor.

ARCHITECTURAL FEATURES: Walls symbolise blocks, roofs indicate shelter and protection. A chimney with smoke, acts as a conduit sending messages to a higher energy. An arch is indicative of some type of initiation. Steps going up allow for steady progress, in reverse they advise retracing of steps. Windows, whether you are looking in or out symbolise curiosity or impatience. A tower can be symbolic of feeling isolated and a moat indicates being on guard and defensive with emo- tions. Stone pillars are signs of strength, balconies and ledges are supportive and give an over-view of situations, that are in our thoughts.

FURNISHINGS AND DECOR: A sparsely furnished house often points to a minimalistic nature. Those who are creative in life, will often see more elaborate furnishings in their dreams and may notice art work on the walls. Pastel colours denote a softness, while vibrant colours show an outgoing nature and desire to be noticed. Curtains and cushions represent style and comfort, indicat- ing a safe space. Wooden furniture shows connection to nature, metal shows a strong resolve.

AMBIENCE OF PLACE: The mood a dream instils is of the utmost importance. Many dream interpreters see this as the ‘ambience of place’. The age-old belief that dream meanings are con- trary and that the opposite is true, comes into question. If a place feels peaceful and calm, we need to go with our first instincts and serenity will be restored. To sense hostility that makes us feel on edge, reminds us to be aware and watchful.

JACKIE’S DREAM: I’m at a Victorian house that is near the sea and has a back garden with ponds, that become like lakes, when the tide comes in. I don’t recognise it but go inside. The rooms are large and sparsely furnished, it doesn’t feel homely. It has 4 storeys and 2 upper levels that I often can’t reach and can’t be seen from the outside. Downstairs is an empty room with a door leading to the outside. The door will not lock no matter how many times I turn the key and I am worried that someone might break in, if it isn’t locked properly.

ANASTASIA’S INTERPRETATION: Water links to emotions, intuition, feminine energy and the heavenly body of the moon. Jackie needs to be near calm waters to balance her emotions. She loves the garden and a water feature would be ideal. Strict moral and religious views link with Victorian times. Jackie no longer needs to hold onto any belief system that she now finds restrictive. A gift has been passed down which she needs to embrace and can no longer lock away. The wonder- ful energy that comes with this will bring so much joy to Jackie and to others that she shares it with. The number 4 shows that she is on solid ground and the choice of 2 pathways, is hers to make.
