A BIG HELLO TO our members in the Anglia region, that’s Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridge if you were wondering. I am new to the position of Anglia regional officer and live just South West of Norwich, Norfolk. What I lack in knowledge I will make up for in enthusiasm and my passion for these great cars. I have made a few posts about my own XKR on the forum under “The Mistress” heading if you’re interested. It is a vast area and as such not so easy to come up with a venue which is both appealing and accessible to everyone in those counties. As always organising any events, big or small is a work in progress. We have a new regional breakfast meet which is held on the third Saturday of every month for the foreseeable future. So those all important dates for your diary to the end of this year are 17 September,

15 October, 19 November and 17 December. The venue is the very pleasant

Breckland Lodge which is adjacent to the A11, Attleborough, Norfolk, NR17 1AY

There is plenty of parking and they

have both a casual café and full restaurant depending on whether you fancy a light bite or the full-monty breakfast.

The inaugural meeting was on the 16

August where I was joined by member Trevor Lang.Thank you Trevor for keeping me company! Hopefully as word spreads more of

you will be able to attend. In my attempts to spread the word and attract new members I actually cold called on a chap near my home when I saw a lovely blue X150 XK Coupé on his drive! It paid off because Noel was very keen to learn more about the XKEC and assures me he will be attending the next breakfast to meet like-minded enthusiasts. I realise that not everyone fancies

getting out of their nice warm bed early on a weekend, so if you would prefer an evening meet please do get in touch. If you know of an attractive venue which offers quality, reasonably priced food with good car parking please suggest it. In fact, given the vast area our region covers, perhaps we could do a roving monthly evening get together to meet as many of our members in the area as we can. What do you think? I would really like to hear from you so drop me a line and I promise I will get back to you ASAP. Likewise, I would also like to hear your suggestions for events or venues suitable for a day long gathering. I am relatively new to the area having lived almost ten years in Queensland, Australia, so I am still learning the lay of the land and what attractions are in our area, so if you have an idea for an event do please let me know. On Sunday 25 September we have

been invited to take part in a static display of our cars at the Reepham Classic Car Show. Further details are available on the forum events page. Please do check it out. They have asked for ten cars, so far

we only have two.The theme of the show this year is British Motoring, hence the invitation to our club. There will also be plenty of other makes and models on display, together with an abundance of refreshments from several local venues plus live music so it promises to be a really great day. Finally, a quick note on our web site

forum pages. There is a great deal of useful information to be had there so I would recommend you check it as often as possible.

This will help keep you up to date with what is happening out and about, it’s not all idle gossip! The easiest way to see what’s new is to click on the heading at the top of any page marked “Unread posts” or “New posts”.This saves going through the different headings and lists to see what’s what. I hope this helps. If you have your own account set up correctly, and you comment on a post, you should receive an e-mail notification when another person comments on the same post.
