Fill up: No problem with petrol supplies . . . I’d say about 700 litres in one hit
or many members on the Alsace Tour the first day was travelling to Folkestone, a nights stopover at an hotel near Dover and the group dining
together that evening.
The next day all 23 cars had the same tunnel crossing time but some opted for a high train carriage whilst others a low. Consequently the plan included a “convoy gathering point” 34 miles south of Calais. All but one car made it, the other driven by, can’t say (Mark Roberts) was first off the train but overshot the location.
With the exception of one car (see
Cockerel Cock Up Of The day) we all made it to the hotel in Troyes in time for dinner. I do like the French facility of having a group dinner with or without drinks included.
Obviously I booked all the dinners
where we were dining as a group “with drinks”. Despite that only adding about £7 to the dinner costs on every occasion the drinks flowed quite freely throughout all dinners.
