Generator Power’s latest purchase is the new model QAC1000, powered by a Cummins QST30G4

GENSETS

Generator Power has bought new Atlas Copco QAC1000 gensets. UKPN reveals why this was a shrewd move.

G

enerator Power of Woolston, Warrington, in Cheshire, ofers one of the widest ranges of genset types in the UK, with generators and

ancillary equipment designed to handle anything from a planned event to an emergency power shortage. This year the company celebrates 20 years operating in the power sector.

Generator Power’s latest purchase is the new model QAC1000, powered by a Cummins QST30G4 engine. This, combined with the variable speed fan, gives industry leading fuel consumption and very low noise levels, says the manufacturer.

The QST30G4 engine comes with a PowerCommand 3.3 Control System. Essentially an integrated microprocessor based generator set control system, it provides voltage regulation, full engine protection, alternator protection, operator interface and isochronous governing. Other features include AmpSentry –

AmpSentry protection incorporates a full range of alternator protection functions which are matched to the alternator provided. Engine power management is handled by a control function provides battery monitoring and testing features and smart starting control system.

The system includes three phase sensing, full wave rectified voltage regulation, with a PWM output for stable operation with all load types. Control comes standard with PCCNet and Modbus interface.

The Atlas Copco QAC1000 itself features a rugged Zincor steel coated canopy and is mounted on rugged skids.

Designed for extreme weather conditions, it incorporates a standard sealed spillage-free frame, which will ensure that all fluids can be retained within the frame, a move which effectively eliminates spillage problems. The QAC1000 genset offers increased uptime: it has carefully selected components and a tested configuration with genuine versatility. Like the QAS 275-325 it can can power a wide variation of critical applications. All QAC1000 generators meet current European requirements relating to the working environment and regulations concerning safety, exhaust emissions and noise. All models comply with the outdoor noise directive 2000/14/EC.

Atlas Copco has fully implemented its Environmental Management System into the design and manufacture process of the machines fulfilling the requirements of ISO 1. Stephen Cardwell, Managing Director of Generator Power, comments: “This purchase of QAC1000s, together with the 16 QAC1250s previously bought, establishes Generator Power as a major player in the larger ‘containerised’ market.”
