ide Rental offers clients & users a comprehensive, roundtheclock service for the provision of temporary power

Largest Solar PV array fitted to an Bywaters building in London

Bywaters, London’s largest under- cover waste management company, has saved 361 tonnes of CO2 in just 9 months following the installation of a 1000kW solar panel array on the roof of its main facility in Bow, East London.

The amount of CO2, which equates to the saving of 9,246 new trees, is already 40 tonnes more than was predicted for the full year.

In the UK, the early months of the year are often made difficult by low temperatures, poor weather conditions and severe flooding. With this in mind, ide Rental is offering a comprehensive around-the-clock service designed to help businesses provide safe and reliable power to projects, as well as temporary power in emergency situations. Equipment available through ide Rental includes power distribution boards, single- phase and three-phase automatic mains failure (AMF) panels, site transformers, specialist lighting and cabling. All equipment is certified and tested to the relevant IET wiring regulations to ensure regulatory compliance and lasting performance. “This time of year is features unpredictable weather for the UK and many businesses will be reluctant to invest heavily in backup electrical equipment,” explained Stuart Barnett, rental manager at ide Rental. “While there is no doubt that many project and plant managers will take recent reports with a pinch of salt, if they do not have a contingency plan in place, then renting equipment during this period is an alternative option deemed as a short term cost effective solution. “ide Rental provides an affordable solution on a basis that meets the specific needs of businesses and most importantly ensures power is restored as fast as possible.” ide Rental supplements the company’s popular bespoke service, ide Systems, as well as its recently launched online store, ide Online. Businesses with unique electrical equipment requirements can also rent customised products. “Some companies will have very specific project requirements that may necessitate a bespoke solution,” continued Barnett. “In these instances, we conduct a site survey to understand the power requirements of the project and customise equipment accordingly. We can design a unit, such as a distribution panel, that will meet the demands of the project. Once the project is completed, we add this unit to our fleet of rental products for future customers to hire,” he reports. “We also find that many customers do not necessarily have a clear idea of what equipment they need. We have extensive experience and knowledge of a number of industries and we draw from this to ensure customers get the equipment they need to power projects effectively, whether it uses a standard range or something unique.” Utilising its own transportation system, ide Rental provides a rapid response service that offers same-day delivery of rental orders. As an additional part of its customer service package, ide Rental can also provide qualified engineers to install equipment on-site, ensuring safe and successful set up.

The 4000 solar panels, London’s largest Solar PV retrofit installed in February 2016, have generated 700MWh, providing most of the power needed for Bywaters’ large 650,000 tonnes per annum Materials Recovery Facility. On track to deliver a return on investment within six years, this renew- able energy makes Bywaters nearly

self-sufficient. With air quality an increasing concern in London - and considered by many to be one of the biggest health threats facing Londoners today - such a significant reduction in CO2 emissions is to be welcomed. Bywaters’ solar installation underlines the company’s pioneering approach to the envi- ronment and to its role in helping to improve London’s air quality. The company, which works with customers to reduce their envi- ronmental impact, is on a mis- sion to cut greenhouse gas emissions, reduce pressure on resources and help build more sustainable supply chains. for the future.
