As Birmingham experiences more start-up growth than anywhere else in the UK, the delivery of a first- of-its-kind co-working space is set to galvanise the city’s pool of entrepreneurial talent. Property company CEG is investing £1m in Alpha
Works, delivering 14,000 sq ft of office space in the iconic Alpha Birmingham targeted at smaller businesses and start-ups. and event space, breakout areas and fully equipped meeting rooms – members will benefit from fast superfast broadband/Wi-Fi, a community social media platform, competitive rates and its central location. Since it acquired Alpha in 2014, CEG has embarked
on a £1m refurbishment of the 28 storey landmark, including the delivery of a new reception, independent café, cycle and shower facilities. Lawrence Escott, investment manager at CEG, said:

Newhall Street in the building formerly occupied by the historic and world-renowned Assay Office. Guy Thompson, senior director
at GVA, said: “TCN’s approach is very much that Assay Studios is not your average office space. “We’ve worked closely with them
throughout this process to ensure that we can deliver a programme for the building that integrates seamlessly with their positioning of the Assay Studios as a forward- thinking development that encourages collaboration and knowledge sharing.” TCN UK purchased the Grade II
listed Assay Building in 2014 and invested £4m to regenerate it into 30,000 sq ft of creative office space, for Birmingham’s burgeoning tech and media industry.
