Having your say on health technology
The European Commission has launched a survey on health technology, aimed at the pharmaceuticals and medical devices sectors. The survey is linked to an on-going public consultation on
strengthening EU cooperation on Health Technology Assessment. Health technology is a term used to cover aspects of healthcare
products or services, such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices and equipment and medical and surgical procedures. Health Technology Assessment (HTA) measures the added value of a new
health technology in comparison to existing technologies and current standards of care. The goal of HTA is to support decision makers at national, regional or local level in their efforts to ensure that patients are treated with the best available treatment while keeping the health budgets under control. Craig Biffen, from the Enterprise Europe Network, said:
“It is important that SMEs take part in these EC public consultation surveys. Having the accessibility to influence, guide, develop and improve major topics that have an impact on our daily lives should not be ignored.”
