Apprenticeships, Skills & Training Higher and Degree Apprenticeships are widening

access to the professions and providing the high level technical skills that employers need to improve productivity. These high quality apprenticeships are also giving young people a career route equally as valid as going to university.” So what does this all mean for your business? NAS has agreed to support you individually as a

GBCC member through its free phone advisory service, operated by the Apprenticeship Business Support Team within NAS, which is available seven days a week. This service will help you with any basic questions

you may have, right through to helping you identify which job roles in your business could be filled by an apprentice. The service will also help you identify the training providers that can deliver the apprenticeship. If you decide to proceed and recruit an apprentice, the training provider will manage the complete training programme for you and also identify any financial incentives you may be eligible for. Elliot Mason, Policy and Patron Adviser, leads on

Apprenticeships at the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, said: “One of the criticisms that has been levelled most

frequently at Government and the National Apprenticeship Service is that they haven’t done enough to engage smaller businesses with their apprenticeship reforms. Research that the GBCC carried out last year highlighted that 37% of West Midlands businesses had no understanding of, or hadn’t heard about, the Apprenticeship Levy. “This advisory service represents recognition from

NAS that the success of these reforms will rest upon engagement from the business community and the sharing of information will be key to supporting that. The GBCC welcomes this and encourages members to get in touch to see the apprenticeship possibilities that are available to your business”

Your feedback GBCC is really keen to see how valuable this service is for you, our Members, so NAS has agreed to monitor how many GBCC members use it. When you call, please begin by telling them you are

a member of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, as this will enable them to tag your call.

• If they were caught up in a terrorist incident?

• Had an accident or criminal incident where they suffered a life threatening injury?

• If their hotel was on fire or better still which hotel room to choose for safety?

• To avoid becoming a victim of a theft or robbery?
